Preservation

On Sunday I went out to this abandoned house that I'd gone to several times before and when I came back this last time I found it burned to the ground, with of course, the chimney being the only thing left standing. I discovered this house two years ago on my way back from Salina and it's been the source of inspiration for many a photo shoot. I even went here for a Drawing project for one of my classes, where we had to place a pair of eyes we had drawn into an unlikely environment.

For my birthday last summer, we sisters put together a LOST scavenger hunt around town and I found one of the clues at this house on the top shelf in a closet. So awesome. Here's the before and after shot of the house:

It just makes me sad when beautiful buildings are burned down or destroyed. People just don't make the effort to preserve beauty. However, I still think there can be beauty in the ashes.

i knew you went out there again! i saw those pics you put up on FB and knew right away where you were! lol. yeh, i bet that was weird to go back and it not be there anymore. who knows, maybe too many druggies were living there, and now that it's gone, you are safe from coming into contact with them. (kinda a stretch.)

p.s. i love the Kansas theme :)

These pictures are lovely. I really wonder who is behind the house burning. Some sort of beautification society? If so, they're doing the opposite of what they stand for! Maybe, you can try to buy an abandoned house for REAL cheap from the state of Kansas, and it will never be burnt to crisps.

That house really seemed to be intact. In all honesty, I'm sad they did that.

Yeah, that is sad.

Some people might drive by and see an eyesore, but I too see the beauty in such places. It's like remnants from a past time, a little slice from a long-lost life.

And that really does look like a beautiful place to explore.

Thank you!

I'll just have to scout out some more abandoned houses/buildings... it's a shame they are so hard to come by these days.
